2020 is just around the corner and we’re pretty much pinching ourselves here at The Clifton and The Duke. We can’t believe what a busy year it’s been, let alone what a phenomenal decade. As the madness of the festive season comes to a close, we thought we’d take a moment to look back on 2019 and all of the memories we made.
This time last year our doors had just opened at The Duke of Hamilton. We managed to get things up and running just in time to welcome our locals for Christmas, and we haven’t stopped since! We’ve spent 2019 sprucing things up at The Duke and adding more character to the pub, from the art on the walls to the comfy new chairs in the main dining room. From the new year on we’ll be focusing on redoing our outdoor areas so you have a new beer garden to enjoy, ready for the summer.
Of course we couldn’t end the year without a nod to some of the truly amazing food our talented chefs have whipped up in 2019, keeping our customers well fed and happy. We saw two pretty hardcore #NationalBurgerDay specials appear at each of the pubs, loaded with cheese, crispy bacon and more. We also loved celebrating Thanksgiving for the first time at The Duke this year, with everything from pumpkin bread to vegan pumpkin pie. And don’t forget that we also launched Rib Wednesdays at both pubs – those British ribs covered in sticky homemade barbecue sauce have proved popular, and will be returning in 2020!
One of our biggest achievements this year was getting up and running with our email newsletters, which are going out to almost 1,000 of you every month. Our goal was to keep you up to date with all the goings on in the pubs, from new menus to events, and share stories about The Duke with Clifton regulars, and vice versa. Of course we know that everyone has their favourite haunt, but we really value the fact that so many of you visit both our locations and support our shared teams.

Many of our eagle-eyed regulars spotted that our newly launched email newsletters started pinging into your inbox from Loci Pubs – that’s us! As our pub family hopefully continues to grow, we wanted to choose a group name that really reflects our values and gives us something to continue to aspire to. The word ‘loci’ has many connotations around place and locality and, as we’re all about our local communities, this felt pretty fitting.
From all of us at Loci Pubs, thank you for a great 2019.
